All Round Cooling employs a metal cooling plate in the back of the fridge to hold the cold air and stop it from being lost when you open the refrigerator door. It also reduces the need for power-defrosting which saves time and money.
Samsung refrigerators feature one of the best ice makers we've tried. The original Twist Ice Maker dispensing large cubes can be dispensed by an easy twist and can be stored below the fridge when not being used. This allows for more shelf space and allows you to easily locate your preferred drinks and snacks.
With Reversible Doors You can select the direction in which your freezer or fridge opens. You can easily integrate your fridge into your kitchen layout while keeping it neat and tidy.
Samsung's Family Hub is the central control for your SmartThings-connected home. It is a huge touchscreen that is mounted on your refrigerator. It will show a live video feed from your smart doorbell, make orders for groceries based on an automated inventory, or suggest recipes that make use of the ingredients you have on hand.

The FlexZone module lets you upgrade your fridge to a larger or smaller size by incorporating an extra FlexZone.

It also has an anti-fingerprint coating that helps keep the surface looking brand new. The refrigerator also has an external water and ice dispenser, making it even more efficient.
This fridge has a FlexZone bottom-right compartment that can be converted from freezer to refrigerator. It also performed well in our tests, though the 21.5-inch touchscreen's bloated applications and lack of SmartThings or voice control integration make it seem like a missed opportunity.

This Samsung FlexZone side by side refrigerator is perfect for families that want to have a fridge and a freezer in one. It's not as spacious than high-end French door models, but it comes with a number of useful features and is an excellent alternative for those with little space in their kitchens.
The Samsung Fridge Freezer is also an extremely energy efficient fridge, thanks to its digital inverter technology. This technology regulates the temperature inside the fridge, so it doesn't change too much, and helps keep your food fresher for longer. Its energy efficiency has earned it the ENERGY STAR Certification.
SmartThings
SmartThings might not be as powerful as Alexa or Google Assistant however, you can still add a lot more smart devices to it. Samsung's TVs, phones tablets and fridges all come with SmartThings. It may be enough for some, especially if they have several Samsung products.
The SmartThings App is well-rounded, and polished, with an "if x is greater than y then y" automation feature that works well. You can set things up like alarms that go off when sensors for water leaks detect the presence of a flood, or turn on a light when your phone detects that you're at home. It can also control your fridge if you connect it to a smart socket however we've had mixed results with this.
SmartThings requires a hub, which is not cheap. Samsung has a number of different options which include the SmartThings Station that you can attach to an existing router and use it as a nightlight. There's also a less expensive SmartThings Hub Dongle that can support Z-Wave and Zigbee and Thread, with Thread support coming soon.
Once Frydge got your smart fridge, smartphone and hub connected, it's really easy to use. SmartThings lets you manage your refrigerator from anywhere. Notifications are sent to your phone when it is closed or opened. You can set up schedules, change the temperature and even set reminders.
SmartThings was an early participant in the Home Connectivity Alliance. This alliance is working on making major home appliances from different manufacturers interoperable. This could mean that you can control your Samsung washer and dryer, Electrolux oven and LG television with the same app in the near future.
Although it's not as widely accepted as Alexa and Google Assistant, SmartThings does have some big names on its list, including Arlo, Nest, Belkin and Lifx. It's also compatible with Matter, an open protocol that allows devices to be paired regardless of brand. The best choice for most users is to combine Alexa and Google Assistant.
Family Hub
This fridge freezer is among the most modern that you can buy. It comes with a 21-inch touchscreen built into the door, and comes with a variety of clever features. You can access entertainment apps, make notes for family members (think a huge digital version of a notepad stuck to the fridge) Check weather updates, and much more, all thanks Samsung's voice-activated assistant, Bixby.
The touchscreen also lets you to manage your food and recipes, with the option to add ingredients directly from a recipe app and see what's in the fridge with internal cameras. You can also make an inventory list of items on the go and keep track of foods to see when they'll expire. You can even download a dedicated recipe app that will provide instructions as you cook.
This is the second generation of Family Hub fridges and Samsung claims that it's spent the past year adjusting them to the needs of customer feedback. You can now create distinct profiles for every member of your family so that they can personalize the information and apps they have access to. It's still not quite as good as having Alexa integration built into your refrigerator but it's an improvement on last year's model.
Family Hub is not only an app for managing your entertainment and groceries It also manages Samsung's SmartThings platform. It can be integrated into Matter-compatible devices like lights and plugs and allow you to use the touchscreen to control them as well.
Samsung's refrigerator is a few years old and, although it still offers a wide range of functions but its touchscreen features are not a feature that most people would consider essential. They're more fun, and somewhat frivolous extras than anything else.
This could change as more software updates are released, but for the moment these models are ideally suited to those who want the most comprehensive connected fridge possible. If you're not one of them, you can always pick up a cheaper model that doesn't have the Family Hub to save some cash. If you have a lot of smart home devices you need to control with one screen, or you like the idea of having a refrigerator with a huge touchscreen, it could be worth the money.
